LSI currently seeks a part time Caseworker for programs in Clinton and Jackson counties.
The Caseworker will provide services to clients in the Step-In and Behavioral Health programs.
The Step-In program provides a short-term crisis intervention service for children and families. Referrals can be made 24 hours a day by law enforcement, hospitals, private physicians, schools, judges/courts, DHS, JCS or any other professional agency. The goal of the program is to prevent an out of home placement including entering the traditional child welfare, hospital setting or Juvenile Court system of care.
Caseworkers will provide crisis counseling to the family within one hour of the crisis referral and then provide follow-up counseling/crisis services until the family either stabilizes or is linked to ongoing counseling or alternative community services. Caseworkers will provide a quick response to the family, initially stabilize and assess the family's safety, use de-escalation techniques, provide support and provide the family with resources depending on the strengths and needs. Based on a mutually developed crisis intervention plan and/or behaviors intervention plan, LSI will link families to community resources by offering information, referrals and support during this vulnerable time. Assist caregivers and children in developing an array of skills some including coping mechanisms, conflict resolution skills and healthy communication. Caseworkers will be part of a crisis team and will rotate on-call duties. Work may occur during the week day, evening, or weekend hours.
Qualified applicants will have a Bachelor's in social work or related human service field and one year of related experience.
This position requires a valid driver's license, auto insurance, a good driving record and the ability to pass an extensive background check including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, Sex Offender registry and a criminal history check.
