Our Services for People with Disabilities team is growing services and searching for dedicated, energetic full-time or part-time, weekend Direct Support Professionals in Des Moines. The Iowans we serve are seeking a life of greater confidence and independence, and it's our privilege to empower them toward success every day.

The weekend package is available as full-time or part-time. Full-time DSPs must commit to work five shifts each weekend - Friday overnight through Sunday PM. Part-time DSPs must commit to work three shifts each weekend during the same timeframe. (1st shift hours: 6:30am to 2:30pm; 2nd shift hours: 2:30pm to 10:30pm; 3rd shift 10:30pm to 6:30am - during 3rd shift/overnight shift during the time all individuals in the home are asleep, staff may also sleep in a neutral area of the residence.)

A Direct Support Professional (DSP) works with an individual with an intellectual disability or chronic mental illness. The individuals we work with require 24-hour support, either in their home or out in their community. A DSP is there to provide support, assistance, and instruction in learning independent living skills like:

            - Money management

            - Socialization

            - Cooking

            - Personal hygiene 

A DSP is also there to be an advocate for the individual in communicating their needs, self-expression, and goals.  Must be willing to provide transportation and lift a minimum of at least 50 lbs.

Qualified candidates for this job will have either a high school diploma or a GED. Experience working in Supported Community Living or with people with disabilities is preferred.

This position requires a valid driver's license, auto insurance, a good driving record, and the ability to pass an extensive background check, including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, the Sex Offender registry, and the criminal history check.
