LSI currently seeks an occasional Caseworker for programs in Des Moines.


The Caseworker will work directly with sponsors, families, and individuals to provide services in Home Study (HS), Post Release Service (PRS), and Trafficking Victims Assistance Program (TVAP).

The caseworker will be responsible for helping children and families with resource referrals, community connections, and case management services. The caseworker will maintain a case load of clients and conduct home visits providing support, performing assessments, and assessing safety while utilizing trauma informed care. This position will also assess potential placements for unaccompanied children (UC), to include but not limited to interviews and outreach to family in the home-country.

The caseworker will also provide intake and case management services for survivors of human trafficking. The caseworker will provide crisis stabilization services and display a high degree of sensitivity to and respect for diversity and cultural issues involved in working with clients of varying ethnicity and income. This position will provide safety planning, advocate with other agencies, landlords, and housing providers on behalf of program participants. This position requires completing documentation and required reports in a timely manner.

Qualified applicants will have a Bachelor's in social work or related human service field. Qualified applicants will be bilingual English/Spanish. Preferred experience in case management, family services, and/or immigration fields.

This position requires a valid driver's license, auto insurance, a good driving record and the ability to pass an extensive background check including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, Sex Offender registry and a criminal history check.
